Centro DSR: A Health and Wellness Company Hit by Lockbit3 Ransomware
The Centro DSR, a multidisciplinary facility specializing in physiotherapeutic and rehabilitative therapies, medical consultations, and the treatment of developmental age disorders, has fallen victim to a ransomware attack by Lockbit3. Operating in the health and wellness sector, the facility was targeted through a ransomware infection, a type of malware that restricts user access to computer systems in exchange for a ransom payment.
Boasting two medical clinics, four equipped rehabilitation rooms, two studios dedicated to developmental age therapies, a gym, and a heated pool at 33°C, Centro DSR is staffed by more than 20 professionals working as a team to ensure comprehensive patient care and to define a pathway aimed at prevention, protection, or recovery of well-being.
Despite its specialization in health care and prevention, the facility was vulnerable to the Lockbit3 attack. The criminal cyber gang Lockbit3 adopts the ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) model, where affiliates deposit money for the use of customized attacks, and ransom payments are split between the Lockbit3 development team and the attacking affiliates.
The Lockbit3 attack is among many ransomware attacks threatening organizations worldwide, and data restoration can require highly specialized operators and a complex process.
The Centro DSR, which has a website at http://centrodsr.it, was targeted by a Lockbit3 ransomware attack, but further details on the attack or the size of the company were not available.
