Richmond University Medical Center Ransomware Attack
Richmond University Medical Center (RUMC) in Staten Island has suffered a ransomware attack. Clinicians and providers were forced to physically monitor patents and enter data manually. According to a spokesperson, impacts have been limited "with the exception of overnight trauma and stroke services."
The hospital is investigating, with the help of a third-party cybersecurity firm, the scope of the attack and impact on patient data, and working to bring online systems back to full operational status. RUMC is still offering full patient services and is still admitting patients.
