Cybersecurity Breach at Mars Area School District

Cybersecurity analysts said Tuesday that data believed to be from Mars Area School District was published online by the ransomware group Vice Society. The group claims they stole it during their most recent hack on this educational institution, which according to CISA is a “particularly lucrative target." Over recent years, school systems have become increasingly popular among cyber criminals looking for sensitive student information such as grades or Social Security numbers; so much so in fact, those who work within cybersecurity are warning we could see an increase of attacks like these soon.
